Domestic Violence Among Nigerian Secondary Education Students: Causes And Management Strategies

Abstract

This paper examined domestic violence among Nigerian secondary education students: its causes, effects and the management strategies. The study was as much concerned on the high rate of domestic violence being perpetrated by the teenagers in Nigeria. However, the study examined the concept, types cause, effects and management strategies of the available different types of domestic violence, like raping, sexual harassment, killing, kidnapping, gender discrimination, arson, divorce and destruction of life and properties. It was however suggested that effective counseling and moral values be integrated into the secondary education and that entrepreneurial skills acquisition be enforced by the secondary education administrations in order to reduce the high rate of domestic violence being perpetrated by the teenager and secondary school students in Nigeria.
