Abstract: University libraries all over the world are undergoing tremendous change in the context of technology for service and particularly digital communication. Survey was conducted to determine the state of ICTs in Nigerian university libraries. Questionnaire was administered at online social media platforms of the Association of University Librarians of Nigerian Universities using electronic mail and WhatsApp. There were 48 valid responses. The questionnaire was complemented by participant observation of the researcher who had been involved in the deployment of technology in Nigerian University libraires for over 35 years. Results show that there is variation in the provision of digital library services, buildings and necessary infrastructure such as electricity and provision of 24/7 internet services, library websites and the training of staff need full attention. One key recommendation from the findings is that the Association of University Librarians of Nigerian Universities should draw up a benchmark of ICT requirements for the running of universities in Nigeria with timelines in order to accelerate the adaptation and use of technology for library services in the country.
